James 4:6-10 AMP
6 But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “God is opposed to the proudand haughty, but [continually] gives [the gift of] grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].” 7 So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God [with a contrite heart] and He will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; and purify your [unfaithful] hearts, you double-minded [people]. 9 Be miserable and grieve and weep [over your sin]. Let your [foolish] laughter be turned to mourning and your [reckless] joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves [with an attitude of repentance and insignificance] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up, He will give you purpose].
It is easy for an artist to boast in their art. It is easy to get caught up in all of the compliments and attention that is received from a performance or a showcase of talent, but it is also very important to remember that we are all people, and we all have a purpose. It is important for us to remember to remain humble, no matter what level we may reach in this life of an artist. So often, we see beautifully kind people fall in love with fame and they end up leaving their moral compass behind.
As a Christian-based artist, I just want to bring glory to God in any way that I can. I know that I am nothing without God, and I never want to experience life without him, because let's be honest, even paradise is a prison when God is absent. If we ever want to see a positive change in the world, we have to be the change. It does not matter who you are, where you come from, or what kind of life you might have grown up with; Jesus has a divine purpose for each and every one of us, and all we have to do is humble ourselves and obey that call.
Always remember that none of us are ever really worthy of God's grace, which is actually the point. Grace is a gift that is offered to us through the sacrifice that Jesus made at the cross, however, it means nothing for you if you are not humble enough to follow the direction of our holy creator as he leads us all to victory.
Mark 8:36 KJV
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
For all of us in the music industry, fame could be a dream come true. We sometimes think of the bright lights, the sound of thousands of fans cheering our names, the money we could make from doing what we love… but what does any of that matter if we lose ourselves to get there? There are artists that sell their souls to reach greater heights, but as soon as their life on this world ends, they will lose everything. This post is not intended to trash anyone, but to hopefully shine a light on the darkness that comes from pride. I have seen way too many people lose sight of what is important and I just do not want to see anymore, so please remain humble and stay blessed!
I want to say thank you to everyone for being here and reading along. I am excited for this journey and I hope you enjoy what this website brings!
